Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2010 at Main Rice Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Nawagam, to study weed management in rice (cv. GR-12) under System of Rice Intensification. Ten weed management treatments were evaluated in a randomized block design with four replications. Three hand weedings at 15, 30 and 45 days after transplanting recorded the lowest weed density and dry biomass, highest weed control efficiency, and significantly higher yield attributes, grain and straw yield. It was followed by butachlor @ 1.5 kg ha⁻¹ + one hand weeding at 30 days after transplanting and four conoweedings. Under labour shortage, pyrazosulfuron @ 25 g ha⁻¹ at 10–12 days after transplanting or butachlor @ 1.5 kg ha⁻¹ followed by one hand weeding at 30 days after transplanting was found suitable for effective weed management.
