Status of pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) infesting Bt cotton under middle Gujarat conditions 

Abstract

Field studies were conducted to know the status of pink bollworm infesting Bt cotton in two districts (Kheda and Vadodara) of Gujarat. The higher damage due to Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) was recorded in Karjan taluka of Vadodara district during the years 2014-15 and 2015-16. During 2014-15, the per cent infestation due to pink bollworm was found 26.29 and 5.52 in Kheda and Vadodara district, respectively. Similarly, per cent infestation caused by this pest was observed 31.10 and 15.28 in Kheda and Vadodara districts, respectively during 2015-16. The incidence of P. gossypiella was higher during 2015-16 as compared to 2014-15 in middle Gujarat.
