Abstract
An experiment involving treatment combinations of four pearl-millet hybrids (“HB-3’, ‘J-41°. J-934 and ‘J-1270’); four levels of nitrogen (0, 60, 120 and 180 kg/ha) and three levels of phosphorus (0, 60 and 120 kg/ha) was conducted on the farm of Gujarat Agricultural University, Junagadh campus, during kharif season of the year 1973-74. The experiment was laid out in 4 × 4 × 3 factorial confounded design with two replications. The soil of the experimental plot was clayey in texture, fairly rich in total nitrogen and rich in available and total phosphorus and potash with a pH 8.2. In view of the results obtained in this study it can be stated that potential production and profit from pearl-millet can be secured by using 'J-41' variety and fertilizing the same with 60 kg N/ha alone under the agro-climatic conditions of Junagadh.
