Abstract
In the soils formed under almost similar altitude (1974-4137 m) the simple co-relation coefficients between organic carbon, total N, available N, P and K were modified by the total precipitation which were significant in Sangla tehsil soils receiving about 500 mm of annual precipitation whereas the correlation coefficients of organic carbon, total N, available N and P with available K were not significant in Hangrang sub-tehsil soils receiving about 75 mm of total precipitation. In relatively high altitude (3020-4137 m) soils, the correlation of organic carbon with available N, P and K showed a steady increase with the increase in precipitation. In the relatively low altitude (1974-2196 m) soils, the correlations worked out in soils formed under relatively high precipitation (400-700 mm) among the organic carbon and available K with available N, P and K showed a similar trend to that observed in the soils formed under relatively high altitude and low precipitation (upto 100 mm). Further the correlation between the various soil parameters were found to be highly significant in soils formed under relatively low altitude and low precipitation
