Effect of sulphur on yield and quality of potato under North Gujarat conditions

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 2011-12 and 2012-13 at Main Potato Research Station, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Deesa (Gujarat) on loamy sand soil having pH 8.2, organic carbon(0.32 %) low in available N, available P(31.2 kg/ha) and K (282.5 kg/ha). The four treatments i.e., T₁: control (No Sulphur), T₂ : 25 kg S (Bensulf) /ha, T₃ : 37.5 kg S (Bensulf) /ha and T₄: 50 kg S (Bensulf) were laid out in randomized block design with six replications. The result revealed that application of sulphur in addition to recommended dose of nitrogen, phosphorus and potash were more effective for higher net returns of potato
