Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during the years 1977-78 and 1978-79 at college Agronomy Farm, Gujarat Agricultural University, Anand Campus, Anand in order to study the effect of different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on total fruit yield of muskmelon ,var, GMM-!, which has been recently released by Gujarat Agricul. tural University, It is the most suited variety for irrigated conditions on sandy loam soils of middle Gujarat. ' : The crop of Muskmelon, Var., GMM-/, was fertilized with four levels of ni. trogen (80, 120, 160 and 200 kg/ha) and three levels of phosphorus (40, 60 and 80 kg/ ha). It was found that application of nitrogen @s0 kg/ha and phosphorus @40 kg/ha produced significantly more fruit yield in the second year and in pooled analysis than the rest of the treatments under study. The mean CBR for the two years in- dicated the ratio was 1:2.19 for N 80+ P 40. It is bettre than rest of treatments.
