Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at Gujarat Agricultural University, Amreli, during 1994–95 and 1995–96 to determine the optimum spacing for rainfed cotton (Gossypium herbaceum L.) variety G. Cot. 13. Growth and yield attributes increased with increases in inter- and intra-row spacing. Seed cotton yield also increased with wider inter- and intra-row spacing, particularly during the below-normal rainfall year. On average, a crop geometry of 180 × 45 cm produced the highest seed cotton yield. Wider inter- and intra-row spacing was also found to be more economical, as it not only increased yield but also reduced the cost of cultivation.
