Effect of boron application on yield, quality and economics of Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)

Abstract

Two years field experiment was conducted at Potato Research Station, S. D. Agricultural University, Deesa during 2014-15 and 2015-16 to study the effect of boron application on yield, quality and economics of potato cv. Kufri Chipsona-3. Results revealed that boron application had no significant influence on tuber yields and number of tubers. Quality parameters like per cent dry matter of tuber and dry matter tuber yield were not significantly influenced by boron application. However, least tuber cracking was recorded under application of recommended dose of fertilizer (NPK) along with foliar application of 0.1% boric acid at 40, 50 and 60 days after planting. In terms of economic remuneration, application of recommended dose of fertilizer (NPK) along with 0.1% boric acid foliar application at 40 and 60 days after planting was the best among all treatments.
