Abstract
In the study of evaluation of parents per se performance and its relation to tess cross performance over three locations, high phenotypic correlation coefficients were observed for most of the characters at all locations which revealed that line per s¢ performance could be profitably utilized as an effective preliminary test for potential parents, Subsequent evaluation could be based on test crosses. The per se of parents was better under favourable environments, while hybrids could performed uniformaly under different environments: suggesting parents selected under favourable environ. ment, could result in hybrids of general superiority over varying’ environments,
